The task group of the state of Lagos has arrested two suspects for allegedly wearing commercial motorcycles, commonly known as okada, for illicit drug trafficking in various parts of the metropolis.
It is said that the suspects, identified as Soji Inawole, 40 and Mufu Shobo, who are currently fleeing, transported substances such as Colorado, Indian hemp and other narcotics.
The officers recovered a drug stash, a pair of scissors and other hidden prohibited items inside a school bag during the operation.
The arrests were carried out during a coordinated year of application of the law along the Lagos-Abekuta highway, the Ijaiye bus stop and the AGBADO Railway station, as part of the continuous campaign of the working group to eliminate criminal activities in the state.
The president of the Task Group of the State of Lagos, CSP Adetayo Akerele, declared that the operation is part of a broader strategy aimed at restoring public order and enforcing the zero tolerance position of the State on crime.
“This operation reflects our zero tolerance policy against illegal activities that compromise the security of our communities. Suspects will face the entire weight of the law as investigations continue,” Akerele said in a statement published by the task group.
Additional research discovered that several Okada passengers were working together with drug traffickers, transporting narcotics between brothels and other critical points identified in Lagos.
During the compliance operation, multiple motorcycles involved in illicit trade were confiscated by violating traffic regulations and helping criminal activities.
CSP Adetayo Akerele emphasized the importance of public surveillance, urging residents to actively participate in the campaign to “see something, say something” of the working group.
“We call on all lakes that support our efforts. Community surveillance is crucial to help us maintain a safe and safe environment,” he said.
Meanwhile, the suspect arrested, Soji Aowole, has been accused in court, while efforts are ongoing to track and detain the suspect that flees.
