The collapse of a mining site in the village of Kadauri, the area of the local government of Maru, state of Zamfara, has gained lives with the recovery of 13 bodies, while others are still missing.
A source in the area told Daily Post that it was among the lucky ones to survive when the incident occurred.
He said: “I was digging by gold in the well on Thursday when water went out to drink because I felt thirst and immediately came out, the mining well suddenly collapsed with some of my colleagues inside.”
He said that other miners rushed to the scene to rescue the trapped underground, explaining that the well collapsed and buried more than 30 people inside.
According to him, eleven bodies were evacuated, while several others have not yet recovered from the well.
The reports say that more than 100 miners were in the well during the collapse.
Fifteen people were rescued live and currently receive treatment in a hospital after several degrees of injuries they suffered.
Muhammadu Isa, an official of the Zamfara State Association, confirmed the incident.
Yazid Abubakar, the state police spokesman, could not be contacted to comment on the incident.
