Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has explained the reasons behind the reintroduction of the open house in the state’s public schools.
DAILY POST learned that the state government recently reintroduced open house in all public schools in the state and declared its determination to reintroduce Boy Scouts into the state’s public schools.
However, Makinde has explained why he reintroduced the open house in all public schools in the state.
Makinde, speaking through Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) President Dr. Nurain Adeniran, noted that the open house was reintroduced to ensure teachers and parents monitor their rooms.
Adeniran, who insisted that many parents do not know what their pupils are doing at school, added that the focus of the open house is to ensure adequate follow-up of students from home to their schools.
Adeniran, while speaking at a press conference Tuesday in Ibadan, said the state government is monitoring schools to ensure compliance.
He said: “We recently introduced the open house in Oyo schools. We present it to allow teachers and parents to interact.
“Many parents do not know what their children are doing at school and many teachers do not know what students are doing at home.
“Many teachers don’t know the backgrounds of the students, they don’t know what the children are dealing with at home.
“We introduced the open house based on that, in order to ensure interaction between parents and teachers.
“And the ministry of education has approved it and we are monitoring every school in the state to support compliance.”
