According to the reports, the gunmen have kidnapped an officer of the Nigerian immigration service, NIS, who has been identified as Simon Agbo in Makurdi, state of Benue.
Family sources said the incident occurred around 7: 5 pm on Sunday, while AgBB was out of his home with two neighbors.
The gunmen, who broke into the area in front of the Nkst church, Kuan behind the modern market, fired several shots in the air to scare the residents before grabbing the officer at the tip of the gun.
The victim, who was recently redistributed to the Benue state command of the state of Kwara in February, was seized and taken to the destination unknown by her kidnappers.
The groups of guards and the young people in the community launched a massive search to ensure their release, but their kidnappers escaped.
Agbo's younger brother said that one of the neighbors had persistently urged the officer to return home that night, raising suspicions.
“He kept calling, insisting that my brother returned home or shared his location. They were outside speaking when the attackers hit, pointing only to my brother,” he said.
Since then, the neighbor has been arrested and is in police custody waiting for greater investigation.
His kidnappers have contacted the family and are demanding a rescue of N20 million.
The efforts to confirm the incident of the spokesman for the State Police Command of Benue, CSP Catherine Anene and the NIS officials were not successful at the time of presenting this report.
