A man identified as Chigozie Ndubusi Kizzito has been arrested by the Anambra State Command of the Nigerian Civil Defense and Security Corps, NSCDC, for allegedly defrauding a € 10,000 German woman, Ms Oyeleke Patricia Magdalena.
DIARIO PUBLISHED that Kizzito, 29, met the German lady on a dating site and later fell in love with him and began lavishing money on her.
NSCDC Anambra spokesman ASC Edwin Okadigbo, who disclosed this in a press release to NewsLodgein Awka, said the suspect has acknowledged the crime.
Regarding how the suspect was arrested, Okadigbo said: “Let’s remember the 04/29/2020 around 1: pm, after a complaint from the lawyer Jideofor Chinwuba Esq on behalf of his client, Mrs. Oyeleke Patricia Magdalena ‘F’, a German in the alleged internet-related fraud.
“NSCDC officers through surveillance arrested a 29-year-old Chigozie Ndubusi Kizzito‘ m “from Ndibeokwu Mmuo in Ndi Ejezie Kindred, Arondizuogu in Ideato North LGA of Imo State.
Preliminary investigations, however, reveal that the suspect allegedly met the victim in August 2019 at a dating site, where an alleged relationship is consummated, and from November 2019 to March 2020, he defrauded the victim of 10,000 euros.
“The suspect also made a voluntary confessional statement to the NSCDC.”
He added that NSCDC officials were able to find exhibits showing that he extorted the German.
Some of the recovered exhibits listed to include; details of financial transactions of money transferred to him by the victim, and a copy of a letter allegedly written to the German embassy, in which he protested the embassy’s denial of his visa.
Okadigbo said: “The case is under investigation after which the suspect would be turned over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for further investigation and prosecution.”
