Police arrest 150 suspects, recover 100 motorcycles in anti-crime raid in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command said its officers arrested 150 suspects and recovered 100 unregistered motorcycles, firearms, suspected stolen property and illicit drugs during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in Igando and Idimu areas of the state.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the command said the operation, carried out under the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, targeted criminal hideouts at Boolar, Oko Filling Bus Stop, Igando and other identified black spots within Area M, Idimu axis.

The statement said the operation was carried out at around 5:45 am on Sunday following credible intelligence, adding that the coordinated raid involved a joint team of officers drawn from different formations of the Lagos State Police Command.

“As part of the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, the Lagos State Police Command has sustained its aggressive clearance operations of criminal hideouts across the state, in line with the Command’s commitment to ensure that there is no safe haven for criminals,” the statement said.

Evidence recovered during the operation included 100 unregistered motorcycles, 54 mobile phones, one double barrel pistol, two single barrel pistols, one locally made double barrel shotgun, two camouflage military uniforms, assorted amulets, six generators suspected to have been stolen, substances suspected to be Indian hemp and various quantities of illicit drugs.

He added that all suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations are carried out to determine their individual guilt.

The statement further says that those who have committed criminal offenses will be charged to court accordingly.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining the anti-crime operation across the state.

He commended the officers for their professionalism and dedication, stressing that Operation KO S’AYE will continue across Lagos to deny criminals safe haven and ensure the safety of residents.
