The Niger State Police command arrested seven alleged cultists in relation to the murder of a student from the Ibrahim Badamasi Babanida University, Lapai, Ibbul, Abdulwahab Jafar.
Remember a cult shock on June 23, 2025, resulted in the temporary closure of the institution by state governor Mohammed Umar Bago.
The police command in a statement, issued by the Public Relations officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun said that the incident led to other crises in the Lapai community and police tactical teams were deployed in the city, after which normality was restored.
Abiodun declared that in an investigation effort of the command, conducted jointly by TST and FID STS, a total of 19 people were arrested in Lapa and other places in the state based on intelligence and other information available to the police command.
However, the professional revealed that the investigation was reduced to seven suspects related to the murder of Abdulwahab.
He revealed that it was discovered that suspects were members of the Neo Negro Movement of Africa (NBM), a group supposedly involved in cultist activities, which include initiation, robbery and fraud on the Internet.
Abiodun also declared that they were involved in criminal conspiracy, robbery, illegal society, Internet fraud, having in possession of dangerous weapons and suspicion of guilty homicide.

Based on credible intelligence, Idris Hamza and Suleiman Damilare were arrested on June 27 in Fadikpe with cannabis, charms and local black soaps with a Toyota Corolla vehicle in an Abdullahi Ahmed, also known as residence.
The police image manufacturer said the suspects confessed to being members of the Neo Negro Movement of Africa (NBM) and confessed to having carried out a series of cultist activities in Ibbul, such as the beginning of the members.
“His confessions led the arrest of Abduliu Basir, who is reasonably suspected that he is a rival member of the group known as Vikings. After his arrest in Lapai in a motor park on June 29, a search on the spot on him was carried out, he was found in possession of 16 SIM cards, a post -sowing machine and a sowing sum of seven thousand naira.
Abiodun also said that the investigation is still ongoing and that the members of Vikings or NBM responsible for the deceased’s attack intensify, since it was established that the attack was related to the cultists.
